Sun Devil receiver and special teams gem, Tim White, was arguably ASU’s top performing newcomer last year. White was actually a late addition to Todd Graham’s 2015 Class (Graham’s staff has had an uncanny ability to secure talented prospects after signing day). No one, including Graham, could have predicted the instant impact that the 3-Star White would have in Tempe.

          But it happened.

A Special Player

In short, his effort is off the charts

White possesses world-class speed and elusiveness which is on display nearly every time he touches the ball. The senior will often stop on a dime and then accelerate between and around defenders for a second burst of yardage. His effort is off the charts. White literally fights for every inch whenever he holds the rock.

White is less than 500 yards from…setting a new all-time Arizona State record

The senior regularly stops on a dime and then accelerates between and around defenders for a second chunk of field, sometimes as much as 5-10 yards. In short, his effort is off the charts.

Last Saturday, White led all players with 195 all-purpose yards, finishing with a team-leading 95 receiving yards, 43 yards on punt returns, and 57 on kickoff returns. It was his eighth game as a Sun Devil with over 100 all-purpose yards and his third in the last four games dating back to ASU’s 2015 Territorial Cup victory.

Kick-Offs Are On

Sun Devil #32 Jamal Miles (2009-2011)

Sun Devil #32 Jamal Miles (2009-2011)

Get this: In just 13 games as a JC transfer to ASU (White missed one game last season), he has stacked up 1,029 career kickoff return yards. This includes his 57 return yards against NAU. That’s over 27 yards per return.

To put that into perspective, the current all-time record holder in Tempe is Jamal Miles. Miles amassed 1,517 kick-off return yards, but it took him three complete seasons to do so.

Going into the Texas Tech matchup, White is less than 500 yards from surpassing Miles and setting a new all-time Arizona State record for career kick-off return yards.

On a 2016 team loaded with explosive players such as Kalen Ballage, Cameron Smith, Demario Richard, Jalen Harvey and N’Keal Harry, we predict that Tim White will rack up more show-stopping plays than any other. His value to this team’s prospects this year can not be overstated.
